15 Years in The Indian Navy. A Lifetime of Leadership Lessons

There was a phase in life where leadership meant standing somewhere in the middle of the ocean at 2 AM… with rough seas, complete darkness, and a responsibility much larger than yourself.

No room for panic.
No room for excuses.
Only preparation, teamwork, and discipline.

I didn’t realize it back then, but those years in the Indian Navy quietly shaped the way I lead even today.

Years later, while handling cybersecurity and technology responsibilities, I’ve often felt that the environments may have changed, but the fundamentals haven’t.

Whether it’s a ship at sea or a cyber crisis inside a boardroom, people look for the same things from leaders:
clarity, calmness, direction, and confidence under pressure.

Technology keeps evolving at an unbelievable pace.
But leadership still remains deeply human.

And honestly, some of the best lessons I’ve learned in life never came from a classroom or a corporate meeting room.
They came from the sea.
